Upcoming Advanced Painting Class
Now that my portrait class at Cottonwood Center for the Arts is underway, I thought I would include information about my next class: Advanced Painting. I haven't offered it in a while even though it has been quite popular in the past. Students will have the freedom in this class to work on their own subject matter at their own pace, using their own source photographs while I critique and give advice along the way. We will meet in the morning from 9 am to Noon each Wednesday. If you've been waiting to take one of my painting classes that doesn't meet late in the evening, here's your chance! Oil Painters of America 19th Annual National Exhibition
My painting Warm Breeze (Oil on Linen, 12 x 16 inches, $1,450, pictured above) will be included and available for purchase in the 19th Annual Oil Painters of America National Exhibition and Sale. Over 2,500 paintings were submitted this year, and only 200 of those have been selected for inclusion in the show. The paintings will be on display from April 30th through May 31st, 2010 at the prestigious Legacy Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona. Several events are scheduled in conjuction with the show including painting demonstrations and lectures. Click here to visit the OPA website for more information.

Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters Event
in Crested Butte, Colorado
I've been invited to participate in this year's Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters National Show, which will take place in beautiful Crested Butte, Colorado. You may want to start making plans to attend since the event will take place during Crested Butte's annual wildflower festival, one of their busiest times of the year. The show and sale of all the paintings produced during the eight-day event will open July 16th at Oh-Be-Joyful Gallery (named after a valley near Crested Butte). This is a wonderful chance to see the work of many of today's sought-after plein air artists and witness the beauty of Crested Butte for yourself. I'll give more details about this show in future newsletters.
