 Featured Painting

Desert Clouds

This month's featured painting is Desert Clouds (Oil on Linen, 14 x 14 inches, pictured). This painting was inspired by a trip to the Moab, Utah area including Arches National Park. The dynamic design is what I was after in this piece, as well as the challenge to achieve depth without much color change from foreground to background. I especially enjoyed accenting the foreground rocky hillside with brushwork and thick paint, which you can get a better look at by clicking here.

Desert Clouds is available now, including its handmade frame, for $1,400 from my studio; reply to this email or click here to contact me about it. See more new paintings at my recent artwork page.

Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters National Show Results

RMPAP

The 2010 Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters National Show in Crested Butte, Colorado, was a great success. More than 40 artists participated, producing roughly 300 plein air paintings during the eight-day event. The following three-day painting exhibition held at Oh-Be-Joyful Gallery was a fantastic display of remarkably high-caliber plein air works and boasted close to $100,000 in sales.

My painting Shadow Patterns (Oil on Linen Panel, 9 x 12 inches, pictured) received an Award of Merit from the award judge, Colorado landscape painter Jay Moore.
