 Featured Painting

Fields of Summer

This month's featured painting is Fields of Summer (Oil on Linen, 9 x 12 inches, pictured). My challenge with this painting was to simplify the grasses in the field and to make them interesting at the same time. It's easy to overwork those types of areas, but I wanted to make sure that they didn't become distracting against the figure. You can see closeups of the painting by clicking here.

Fields of Summer is available now, including its handmade frame, for $1,050 from Galleries West Fine Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. See more new paintings at my recent artwork page.

 Celebration of Rocky Mountain:
Masterworks of Landscape Show

Among the Trees

This premier show at Reily Fine Art in Estes Park, Colorado, will present the landscapes of Rocky Mountain National Park and other spectacular Colorado vistas. Each artist has been invited to create one large landscape painting for the show. My painting Among the Trees (Oil on Linen, 24 x 36 inches, pictured) will be available. All the paintings will have been painted in 2010 and will represent the culmination of years of work and study. This show will directly benefit the Rocky Mountain Nature Association with amounts of $250 to $1000 per painting with a matching donor that will match each donation—doubling it. The RMNA has supported special projects in Rocky Mountain National Park since 1931. The masterworks presented in this show will be the finest large Colorado landscapes offered by top artists for 2010—créme de la créme.

 Palmer Land Trust Show

Dry Country

September 17th and 18th, the Palmer Land Trust will host their Art for Land's Sake benefit show. The show is designed to highlight the many properties preserved under conservation easements held by the Palmer Land Trust. More than 30 artists have been specifically invited to participate in this show and to provide up to three pieces of artwork featuring Palmer Land Trust properties. Three of my paintings will be available at the show including Dry Country (Oil on Linen, 6 x 8 inches, pictured) which features an unusual view of Red Rock Canyon. The special artwork in this show will only be available during the two days of this event, so guests are invited to make a pledge in advance to be a Palmer Patron of the Arts. Please RSVP if you wish to attend the Patron’s Exclusive Reception with the intention of purchasing art—and enjoy a wonderful opportunity to enhance your efforts and mission for open space. RSVP to Linda Muth, Invitational Art Show Director, at (719) 440-7403.

 Art of Living Show

Along the Road

On Saturday, September 25th, The Gallery at Rich Designs will host the Sixth Annual Art of Living show to benefit Pikes Peak Hospice. This show has been very successful in past years bringing much needed support to the hospice and promises to be a great show again this year. All the gallery artists will be supplying new paintings for the show and a percentage of all sales will go directly to the hospice. Many artists, including myself, will attend and demonstrate their painting techniques so that visitors can watch some works in progress. Several of my paintings will be available at the show including Along the Road (Oil on Linen, 24 x 56 inches, pictured). Click here for more information about this show.
