I’m honored to announce that my painting Into the Light (pictured) received the Valerie E. Smith Award at the American Impressionist Society 9th Annual National Show at Coda Gallery in Palm Desert, California. The judge for the show, artist Calvin Liang, announced the award during the opening reception on November 22nd, 2008. The show will continue through December 22nd, 2008. Many thanks to Calvin Liang and to the American Impressionist Society.

As a beginner artist, I appreciated following the progression of this painting in the demo site. The zoom-ins were great for seeing the brushstrokes. I also like hearing about the palette used but it would be helpful also to know what colors were mixed to acheive each color, if possible. I hope to see more of the demos. The emotion expessed is the best component.

Thanks for the suggestion, Hilary. I’ll try to include more info about color mixing when I do another demo.
